OctPoWriMo 4 – Blitz

OctPoWriMo 4 – Blitz

Definition: http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/blitzpoem.html

Prompt: Write for ten minutes allowing your words to go where they want to go, let them fall onto the page. If you weren’t afraid, what would you write? Follow the words. Breathe, step forward, and fall.

We're all mad here
We've gone crazy
Crazy before we're done
Crazy falling in love
Love that kills us
Love that breeds
Breeds insanity
Breeds like rabbits in dens
Dens of absence
Dens of gloom
Gloom that sticks like pollen
Gloom that smells rotten
Rotten like eggs twelve days old
Rotten water weaving through sewers
Sewers that haven't been drained
Sewers overflowing
Overflowing mania
Overflowing freedom
Freedom for fighting
Freedom for dying
Dying straight
Dying to spite the living
Living in disgust
Living in pain
Pain to drive away
Pain that thrives
Thrives in the light
Thrives through endorphins
Endorphins mean health
Endorphins mean safety
Safety from your
Safety lies
Lies of filth
Lies of convenience
Convenience bought hope
Convenience purchased glory
Glory of sacrifice
Glory of sins
Sins to build me
Sins to fill me
Me, who hates you
Me, who wants you
You to restore my life
You to reincarnate death
Death will break me free
Death will let me live
Live...
Free...
OctPoWriMo 3 – Free Verse

OctPoWriMo 3 – Free Verse

Definition: http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/free.html

Prompt: Find colored pens, crayons, watercolors, or whatever you have that you can use to put color on the page. Remember, don’t worry about the outcome, just swirl the colors around the page. When you feel complete, write for ten minutes about your thoughts and feelings before, during and after putting color to the page.

Note: I did not color, instead I envisioned swirling my fingers through a squishy beady mix of glittery softness while listening to the drums from the OctPoWriMo Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cV5DHaVKv4

I remember this girl,
the one who loves to play
with words on her fingers
scrolling them through breaths
and weaving them through the tendrils
of her very existence.

I remember this girl, who cries because her
characters are experiencing broken hearts,
who are more real to her than the person driving
the car in the lane next to hers.
I remember this girl, who gasps because their verity and conformance
are about to merge them into a lane they were not expected to take.

I remember this girl, who laughed herself to wake,
because the words filtered through her dreams
into her sunrise.

I remember this girl. I never want to forget
that I am the girl I remember.

OctPoWriMo 2 – Lannet Sonnet : Vulnerable

Definition: https://www.writing.com/main/books/entry_id/625309

Prompt: Write for ten minutes about how and when you feel vulnerable.

I wake wondering if I am okay
If I can find my path this day, or if,
Again, I will set with the sun knowing,
Expecting, tomorrow to be better.

Will I meet my goals and live fully?
Shall I meet my truth and survive hate?
Can I smile at myself, to lift me up,
when the mirror shows me that which I can’t
confess to my heart, or feel in my soul?

I am now unguarded against myself,
I have torn down walls and opened the drapes,
So that I may really begin to love,
not only who I am, but who I was.
Also, for the future ventures and dreams
That I may know me, from so long ago.

OctPoWriMo 1 – Kyrielle Sonnet : Shine Your Light

Definition: https://poetscollective.org/everysonnet/kyrielle-sonnet/

Prompt: Shine your light is the main prompt for today, in fact it is the theme for this OctPoWriMo. Some have taken this time during the Pandemic to explore their talents and share them with others. How can you shine your light? Write for ten minutes exploring what shining your light means to you.

The wait ends when the hour falls dark
Tule fog grows upon the park
Moonlight casts a halo of pain
Refracted through driblets of rain

You stole the love I had to share
My light, my wind, my fire, my air
Hurled without guilt into the Seine
Refracted through driblets of rain

I cry no more, I know my soul
Has outgrown the fractured toll
Triumphantly, my life, my gain
Refracted through driblets of rain

The wait ends when the hour falls dark
Refracted through driblets of rain
